The North york moors chamber music festival

Jamie is the founder and artistic director of renowned North York Moors Chamber Music Festival which held annually and now in its fourteenth consecutive year. It provides the highest level of chamber music within historical buildings upon one of our country’s most stunning and panoramic landscapes.

The hugely varied repertoire and affordable prices have been contributory factors in the festival being such an immediate phenomenon, erasing the merest hint of elitism as the festival encourages the notion that music should be for everyone; its natural environment gives a platform for this philosophy. The potential power of music to bind locals and visitors together regardless of religion or politics is also a great motivation; the artists and audiences alike thrive within the friendly yet concentrated atmosphere.

Having attracted over 20,000 visitors to the festival over the years through hundreds of chamber works explored, Ayriel Classical was set up with the sole intention of distilling these experiences into permanent form as a way of expressing a fresh approach to the repertoire, which the festival has created an environment for.  Ayriel Studios will take this to another level, combining the festival and the label together in one home which will be a facility to encourage and document talent from all generations.  In an industry so pressured and often competitive, both atmosphere and opportunity aim to strike the opposite balance.
